For a long time, we did what most people do.
One candle. Every room. Burn it wherever, whenever – and wonder why the house never quite felt the way we imagined it would. The fragrance was beautiful. The home smelled nice. But something was missing.
It took a while to figure out what.
The mistake isn't the fragrance. It's treating every room the same. Each room in your home has a different purpose, a different energy, a different feeling you want to create in it. Once you start thinking about fragrance that way – room by room, with a little intention – the difference is immediate.
Here's how we approach it at saide, and the fragrances and products we reach for in each space.

The Entryway – for first impressions
The entryway is the first thing you experience when you come home – and the first thing your guests notice. It sets the tone for everything that follows.
A reed diffuser is the perfect choice here. Set it once and let it do its thing. Every time the door opens, the house already smells considered and welcoming. It works 24 hours a day without any effort from you.
What to try:
- bloom. (neroli + gardenia) – soft, floral and welcoming. Neroli, apple blossom and hyacinth open delicately before giving way to tuberose, gardenia and pink carnation, with clove and sandalwood at the base. Warm and feminine without being heavy.
- eden. (fig tree) – for something greener and more grounding. A fresh, unisex option that feels natural and calm as soon as you walk through the door.

The Living Room – for connection + everyday life
The living room is your home's most versatile space. Morning coffee, slow Sunday afternoons, having people over – it carries the whole rhythm of daily life. The fragrance here needs to feel welcoming and easy, something that works in the background without demanding attention.
A wood wick soy candle is our go-to for this room. The warm light of a flame adds to the atmosphere, and the scent fills the space gently as you move through your day. It also gives you control – you choose when the scent is present, and when the room breathes without it.
What to try:
- kaia. (oud wood + musk) – warm, rich and inviting. Bergamot and mandarin open softly before giving way to jasmine and oud, settling into a base of amber and musk. The kind of scent that fills a room and makes people feel instantly at ease.
- sunny. (mimosa + mandarin) – for when you want the room to feel a little brighter and more uplifting. Citrus-led with mandarin and tangerine on top, softened by mimosa, jasmine and lavender. Warm and quietly joyful.
Tip: Trim the wick to 5mm before each burn and let the wax melt to the edges on the first light. This prevents tunnelling and ensures an even, lasting scent throw.

The Kitchen – for fresh starts + reset moments
The kitchen works hard. It absorbs the smells of everything that happens in it – and it deserves a fragrance that can cut through and bring the room back to feeling clean and calm.
A oceana candle works beautifully here. Light it while you cook or after dinner, and it quietly resets the energy of the space. The warmth of the flame also helps the scent travel through the room.
What to try:
- ocean. (coastal waters) – clean, fresh and aquatic. Cuts through cooking smells without being sharp or overpowering.
- eden. (fig tree) – crisp and botanical, like a kitchen garden. Fresh and grounding with a natural quality that feels right at home in a cooking space.
Tip: Keep your kitchen candle away from the stove and any steam. A kitchen windowsill or island bench works well.

The Bedroom – for rest + restoration
The bedroom is where the day ends and begins. More than any other room, it should feel like a retreat – somewhere that signals to your nervous system that it's time to slow down.
The product we reach for here is our interior fragrance spray, applied directly to the sheets before bed. It holds its scent longer than you might expect, and there's something really lovely about pulling back the covers and being met with a fragrance you love. It becomes part of the wind-down ritual without requiring any effort.
What to try:
- golden. (vanilla + oakmoss) – warm, soft and comforting. Bergamot and bamboo open before giving way to vanilla, lily and oakmoss, settling into a base of cardamom and sandalwood. The kind of scent that makes a room feel safe.
- dune. (clove + sandalwood) – if you prefer something with more depth. Warm and woody with bergamot, cinnamon and clove on top, settling into amber, cedarwood and sandalwood. Grounding and quietly atmospheric.
Tip: A little goes a long way on sheets. 2-4 spritzes from about 30cm is all you need.

The Bathroom – for the everyday reset
The bathroom is one of the most overlooked rooms when it comes to fragrance – and one of the easiest to transform.
A reed diffuser is the ideal product for this space. Set it once and it works quietly in the background, so every time you walk in the room already feels considered. No candles to light, no sprays to remember. Just a consistently beautiful scent.
What to try:
- ocean. (coastal waters) – fresh, aquatic and clean. Bergamot, lemon, lime and mandarin open brightly before giving way to rose, geranium and clove, with a soft musk and sandalwood base. Feels like a spa.
- tide. (sea salt + sage) – cleaner and more understated. A fresh sea breeze with bergamot on top, sage and fir needle in the heart, and a base of oud and sea salt. Calm and quietly sophisticated.
Tip: Place your reed diffuser away from direct sunlight and air conditioning vents, which can cause the oil to evaporate too quickly. Flip the reeds every week to refresh the scent or throughout the week for a stronger scent.
