Inside the Home (and Mind) of Stylist Jess from Sol Aura Studio

At Saide, we believe a home is more than just a space - it’s where rituals are created, memories are made, and beauty lives in the everyday details. That’s why we love connecting with people who bring this philosophy to life through their work and their personal style.

Meet the Stylist: Jess from Sol Aura Studio.

Jess is an interior stylist and creative content queen, she has a gift for making spaces feel effortlessly stylish and full of warmth. Whether she’s curating a cosy corner, styling for brands or sharing glimpses of her own beautiful home, Jess reminds us that creating a home is all about the details and the mood you set through fragrance.

I first met Jess around the tail end of COVID (it’s a bit of a blur now!) when Saide was stocked in her absolutely stunning shop in Moama, NSW - Modern Boheme. She always styled our candles, reed diffusers, and interior fragrances so beautifully, making every display feel like a little piece of art.

As of 2024, Jess has shifted to online only and continues to shine in her work as an interior stylist and content creator. We’re so excited to catch up and hear more about her creative journey, styling tips, and favourite ways to bring beauty and fragrance into the home. Welcome, Jess — so lovely to speak with you!

H: What inspired you to combine interior styling with content creation, and how did Sol Aura Studio concept come to life?

J: I studied Interior Decoration fresh out of school so I have always had a passion but life lead me in different directions, one being opening my boutique where I had to create content. When the house was built, I had so many brands reach out wanting me to film and capture their products here and so it evolved!

H: Can you walk us through your creative process when styling different spaces - like bedrooms, bathrooms, and home offices

J: Once I have established a vibe for the space whether it be coastal, Mediterranean I usually start with a hero piece like artwork or piece of furniture and start working from there drawing inspiration from any colours and pulling it all together.

H: Where do you love to shop for home pieces - any go-to stores/brands you’re loving right now?

J: I am a bit of a mixed bag where I have high end on my wish list but also have some very affordable pieces in my space such as my Home Bazarr (Bunnings) office desk. My go to for bedding and linen are of course Adairs and Pillow Talk but love niche brands such as I Love Linen & Bed Threads- see, mixed bag

H: What’s your favourite look or styling vibe right now - something you’re really loving in interiors?

J: I am loving styling chocolate and blush together! I don't think chocolate is going away anytime soon and I still feel like it can be styled in both summer and winter months, it just depends what colours you put with it and it goes with such a huge range of colours! Powder blue, peach, pink, lemon, caramel..

H: Do you have a signature colour or pattern that always sneaks its way into your designs?

J: Yellow, peach and pink, always!

H: What’s one styling rule you love to break

J: I'm not sure there are rules I break but I am always thriving on being unique, going against what everyone else is doing and I am definitely not afraid of colour- I love it!

H: What has been the hardest part of your job, or the most challenging moment you’ve faced as a stylist?

J: Unrealistic budgets, that's a tough one. And furniture pre orders- a stylists worst nightmare...we want it now!

H: What’s the funniest or most unexpected thing that’s ever happened during a styling shoot? (if any!)

J: I dropped my camera this morning- unexpected! It is off to the camera shop as we speak and I am praying it is ok!

H: How do you see fragrance playing a role in styling a room and setting the overall mood?

J: Fragrance plays a HUGE part in setting the mood for a room. No one likes to walk into a space that doesn't smell fresh or clean and fragrance helps with that immensely.

H: What’s your favourite home fragrance product and why - candle, reed diffuser, or interior fragrance?

J: Oooh I am partial to a candle, I love the warm glow from the light.

H: And what’s your favourite fragrance right now?

J: Whitsundays by Saide of course! Divine!

H: Do you change your home fragrance with the seasons, or do you stick to a signature scent all year round?

J: I am generally a floral, fruity kind of girl and usually stick to that. I used to holiday all the time pre kids to Noosa with my husband and the hotel we stayed at has a specific scent made just for them by a Paris based perfumer and I have always dreamed of trying to recreate that scent for my house.

H: How important is scent to you when creating a certain mood at home?

J: It sets the whole mood! Fruity and fresh for an uplifting feel, lavender to calm...there is a reason aromatherapy is a whole thing for moods and healing.

H: Do you match fragrance to the room?

J: 100%. Lavender is always on in the kids bedrooms before bed.

H: If Saide created a fragrance inspired by Sol Aura Studio, what do you think it would smell like?

J: Ooh I love it! It would be fresh, coastal, fruity and a little bit floral.

H: What’s your favourite room in the house and why?

J: My favourite room has to be our master bedroom! It's spacious, easy to style and overlooks our beautiful lake the house backs onto.

H: If we walked into your home right now, what’s one detail that would instantly feel you?

J: Definitely all the arched doors! A decision I made halfway through the build and I am so glad I did.

H: Your home always looks so beautiful and perfectly styled - does it stay like this all the time, or is there a bit of chaos behind the scenes

J: Definitely chaos behind the scenes, I try my best to keep it clean because that keeps my mind clear but with 2 boys and a husband who also live here it is achievable. Don't get me wrong, they think in insane when I run around madly cleaning and screaming orders at them because my brain can't cope with the mess anymore.

H: What’s your number one styling tip you’d give to someone looking to refresh their home?

J: Start with a piece you love, whether it's a piece of artwork, a quilt cover and draw inspiration from there.

H: What’s one small habit that instantly makes your home feel calm and inviting

J: Lighting a candle! Always a candle burning.

H: What does a perfect slow day at home look like for you?

J: No kids! Pilates, coffee then bingeing my favourite tv show. This is a rare occurrence.

H: Do you have a morning ritual to kickstart your day, and one to end your day to switch off?

J: I usually kickstart my day with a walk or pilates & coffee ans switch off for the day with a sauna which we are so lucky to have.

H: What show, podcast, or book are you loving right now that you’d recommend

J: I just finished The Summer I turned Pretty which was my hyperfixation. I am not a huge reader but I love bingeing a TV show! I am out of things to watch at the moment though.

H: Do you have a favourite quote, mantra, or affirmation you live by?

 J: You only live once!

H: And lastly, where can our community find and connect with you - your Instagram handle/website?

J: Would love for you all to follow along!
