Why Your Parfum Isn't Lasting as Long as It Could
There's a small ritual we don't talk about enough – and it's one that makes a real difference to how your fragrance wears through the day.
Did you know our parfum and body oil were actually developed to be worn together? It's not just a nice pairing – there's real reasoning behind it, and once you know how it works, it's hard to go back to spraying parfum on dry skin again.
Why moisturised skin holds fragrance longer
Parfum applied straight to dry skin tends to fade faster. There's nothing for it to cling to – the fragrance sits on the surface, then evaporates.
But when skin is moisturised first, especially with an oil-based formula, fragrance molecules bind and develop more slowly. That means the scent lasts longer, and it unfolds more gently through the day – rather than hitting you all at once and fading by lunch.
It's a small step, but it changes the entire experience of wearing a fragrance.
The ritual: body oil first, parfum after
This is the thinking behind pairing our Glow Body Oil with the matching Eau de Parfum – same fragrance, layered, for a longer and richer wear.
Straight after the shower, while skin is still a little damp, smooth the body oil over your arms, shoulders and collarbone. Give it a minute to settle in. Then layer your parfum over the top, in the same scent.
Beyond the way it makes fragrance last, the oil itself is worth pausing for. It's packed with natural ingredients rich in vitamins A, C, D and E, so it's nourishing and hydrating in its own right – a genuine moment of care before you start the day, not just a step for the sake of the parfum.
Same scent, deeper wear – or try layering two
Pairing the same fragrance in both formats (Bloom body oil with Bloom parfum, for example) reinforces the scent and makes for a beautiful gift when boxed together.
But there's another kind of layering worth knowing about – combining two different fragrances to create something a little more personal.
My go-to at the moment is the Whitsundays Body Oil worn with the Haze Eau De Parfum. Whitsundays opens playful and tropical – coconut, guava, berry – while Haze settles in underneath, grounded and woody with leather and oud. Together, they meet somewhere unexpected: bright at first, deep by the afternoon.
If you're curious what might work for your own fragrance, message us your favourite scent and we'll recommend a pairing for you.
A simple place to start
If you already have a parfum you love, start there – pick up the matching body oil and try the two together for a week. It's a small change to an everyday routine, but it's the kind of thing you'll notice.
