candle care

Why choose soy wax?

saide uses premium soy wax. This form of wax is a natural alternative vegetable wax, which is eco-friendly-biodegradable, free from pesticides, herbicides, palm wax and paraffin, and contains no genetically modified materials! It is better for your health as it also has no unnatural additives or GMO materials! Stay away from those non-soy candles, they are nasty! (and super cheap for a reason)

Are saide candles vegan friendly?

Yes, all our raw materials used to make our candles are vegan friendly.

How long should I burn my saide candle for?

We recommend burning your candle for 4hrs hours at a time or until you can see an even pool of wax, on your first burn. This is important so your candle burns evenly and consistently every time and will help avoid your candle tunnelling.

Do I need to trim my wick before each lighting?

YES! Please trim your wick to 6mm before each lighting. We recommend a wick trimmer to do this. If you don't trim your wick your candle won't burn clean and will create black smoke.

My candle is burning black smoke?

Please ensure you trim your wick prior to each lighting. This will keep your candle burning clean and avoids your wick from creating a 'mushroom' top which is what is creating the smoke.

My candle glass has blackened while burning?

When your candle has cooled and dried, use a cloth or paper towel to go around the glass to remove the blackening.

Can I re-purpose my jars?

Absolutely! Reuse your glass jars as your new planter, hold your stationary or use it to store your cotton buds in them! You can also re-use your calico bag, store your makeup brushes, garlic cloves...

Our ceramic range has also been designed to use as your new tea or coffee cup once finished!

How can I clean my jars?

Fill the vessel with boiling water. The remaining wax will rise to the top and once cooled you can take it out. Next, add hot soapy water to remove any soy wax residue and give it a wash. Use a dry cloth to wipe it clean and your good to go!

Do not place in dishwasher. Hand wash is also recommended for our handmade ceramics to keep it looking it's best.

How often should I flip saide diffuser reeds?

Once a week is recommended, however when you feel like you need to enhance the fragrance in your space, you can flip them as many times as you like! We personally flip them 2-3 times a week.

Candle and diffuser storage?

Keep your candle and diffuser out of direct sunlight in a cool try place. This will pro-long and keep them looking their best.
